Contact your Insurance Agent immediately. He or she will instruct you on what information is required to support the type of claim involved and will determine if a police report is required.
Once your claim is established on your carrier's system, the information will appear on InsureAnswer.com the next business day. In InsureAnswer.com, navigate to the Claims Inquiry area and choose the active claim on the Claim Detail screen.
Once the claim is set up, there is a three-step process for claim payments:
Claim information from carriers is updated on InsureAnswer.com once a day. If any of the steps do not happen in the time frames listed above, contact your Insurance Agent about the details of your claim.
On the InsureAnswer home page, select the "INQUIRY" link at the top of the page. Next, select the "CLAIMS" link on the Inquiry page. Complete the login form, including your your claim and PIN number (located on your Claim Notification letter). Click "FIND CLAIM." The next screen will provide you with your claim details.
If you do not see your claim, it may not have been set up yet. It usually takes at least one business day to set up a claim. If you do not see the claim you are looking for within several business days of your reporting it, please contact your Independent Agent.
This most likely means the appraisal has not yet been received by your insurance carrier. If you do not see your appraisal or payments within several days, please contact the adjuster handling your claim.
In an attempt by your insurance carrier to make payments on claims as quickly as possible, payments may be made prior to having all of the details of your accident. In this situation, your deductible will be withheld. Once your carrier receives all of the claim information, final decisions will be made, and your carrier will make a decision on the deductible payments.
Although we hope appraisers will catch all of your vehicle's damage, occassionally some damage is missed. If the appraiser did not see some "hidden" damage, the body shop, once they start removing the damaged parts, will call the appraiser to reevaluate the car. This is called a Supplement. Once your carrier receives the supplemental appraisal, additional payments may be issued.
